• Applicants must have completed Grade 12, high school or above
• All programmes in First Media Design School are conducted in English. Students therefore have to demonstrate a good command of English before being accepted into the programme.
• At least TOEFL 550 or IELTS 5.5 is required to proceed with degree studies.
• Be at least 16 years old.

Step 1 - Application and Immigration forms
Log on to the FMDS Website to print a copy of FMDS application form -→ http://www.firstmedia.edu.sg/pdf/PAF.pdf
- Fill up details and submit the following immigration forms: eForm16, FormV36
- Please include 4 passport size photographs, all relevant documentation as stipulated in the forms.
- telegraphic transfer of amount S$1,247.62 (for the registration, student pass application and graduation/termination fee, inclusive of 7 % GST) made payable to “First-Institute of Design Singapore Pte Ltd.”
- Please refer to payment details under Payment Mode.
Step 2 - Application of Student Pass
FMDS will submit your application to Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) for student pass application. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for this submission and approval.
Step 3 – Successful Application of Student Pass
You will be notified once the application for the student pass has been approved by ICA.
FMDS will email you the Letter of Offer and ICA student pass confirmation. You will be required to sign the Letter of Offer for our processing. You may scan and email us your signed acceptance letter.
Step 4 – Upon receipt of your signed document, FMDS consultant will contact you to guide you with regards to the payment processes. For snail mail, all application forms and relevant documents are to be sent to the following address:

Documents Required When Applying for Student Pass
Following documents are to be scanned and emailed to FMDS for processing, along with the application forms.
1. Birth certificate
2. Parents' marriage certificate (applicable if Birth Cert does not state both parent's names)
3. Parents' date of birth and job designation and scope
4. Highest qualifications certificates
5. Academic transcripts
6. Any other qualification to support your application
8. Passport photocopies – all pages (except blank pages)
9. 4 Passport size photographs
(All above documents MUST be translated into ENGLISH in either ORIGINAL or Certified TRUE COPIES.)

Admission Procedures: International Students for Non-Citizen of Singapore
First Media Design School (FMDS) reserves the right to refuse admission to students who do not meet the minimum academic requirements. FMDS also reserves the right to revise the admission requirements for international students, in compliance with the Ministry of Education, Singapore’s Edutrust Scheme.
Successful applicant enrolled into FMDS programme will be forwarded with a standard Student’s Contract in accordance with the Edutrust Scheme.
Security Deposit:
• As an international student, you must comply with the Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) regulations. It is compulsory for you to submit a security deposit (please see below) after your student pass application has been approved. This security deposit would be held by ICA and is refundable upon the successful completion of the programme and the surrendering of the student pass to ICA.

Bangladesh, Myanmar, China and India Cashier’s Order from any established bank in Singapore S$5,000
Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand Cashier’s Order from any established bank in Singapore S$1,000
Others S$1,500
Payment of security deposit is paid through cashier’s order payable to Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
Miscellaneous Fees:
• Insurance fee (medical coverage). All international students are required to purchase medical insurance. Estimated premium of S$500 gives you S$20,000 medical coverage for 1 year or 2 years. (pls check)
• Deferment fee
• Re-Assessment fee (for resubmission of project)
• Re-Unit fee (applicable only when student fails certain subject)
• Locker Rental fee
• Late payment fee
• Airport pickup and student accommodation
Airport pickup and arrangement of student lodging in Singapore are optional. Students can also choose to pick their types of lodging through FMDS list of recommended apartments and government flats.
Please read the fee structure carefully. FMDS is governed by the Ministry of Education (EduTrust) policies and all fee structures are transparent, with no hidden costs.
Interview Session with Academic Personnel
• You are required to take a short visual test (through email) followed with an interview session (via phone or Skype) with FMDS academic head prior to official acceptance into the selected programme.
• If you have previous working experience in art, design or related industries, you may be eligible for exemption of selected units. Please indicate your relevant background in the application form.
Notification of Successful Admission
• All applicants will be notified of their application status through phone or email. If your application is successful, an official acceptance letter will be issued to you within 7 days.
• The application of your student pass will be carried out by FMDS. FMDS does not guarantee the successful application of your student pass. On the merit of your country of origin, bank statement and parents’ current employment status, ICA reserves the rights to refuse entry without having to state reasons.
